WHO WE ARE

Skyline Community Church exists in small communities of typical people who share typical life
problems and joys. In being intentional to connect with people where they are, our fellowships
will meet in homes, coffee shops, community centers, parks, etc… anywhere there are people
who want to meet new friends and grow in their knowledge and relationship with Jesus. Our
fellowships are a place to gather, to seek answers to life’s difficult questions, to uplift one
another in love both locally and abroad, and to praise God for His awesome glory.

You will find a causal, relaxed atmosphere where the desire to seek and know Christ is what’s
most important—not the clothes you show up in, your social status, or the details of your past.
We think our “come-as-you-are” mentality reflects that of Jesus Christ in His personal
exemplification of the relentless pursuit of His children wherever they may be in life.

It’s our vision to reach out to communities locally and around the world, engaging in
relationship building and Christian discipleship. We want to help you meet the real Jesus
Christ and know the fulfillment and love that comes from a genuine relationship with Him and
others in God’s family. Come join us as we undergo a meaningful, purpose-filled life change
that comes only from experiencing Jesus.

What to expect:

  • Warm, friendly atmosphere
  • Applicable, Biblical life teachings and discussion
  • Life groups
  • Resources and opportunities for local outreach and international missions
  • Scheduled events (Celebrations) throughout the year uniting the community fellowships

                  SKYLINE COMMUNITY CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT

"Sharing the experience of discovering Christ"

SCC is focused on being a church that goes out into the communities accepting people
where they are and joining them in "life" as we grow together in the purpose God has for each
of us. We are intent on building relationships in small community fellowships, wherever God
may lead us.
SKYLINE COMMUNITY CHURCH STATEMENT OF FAITH

In essential beliefs we experience unity—
Ephesians 4:4-6 (NIV)
There is only one body and one Spirit,...there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God
and Father of us all...

In non-essential beliefs we celebrate diversity—
Romans 14:1-8 (NIV)
Accept him whose faith is weak without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are
you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. So then each of
us will give an account of  himself to God... So whatever  you believe about these things, keep
between yourself and God.

In both, we embody Christ’s love—
1 Corinthians 13:3 (The Message)
So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.

GOD
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17We believe in ONE God who has eternally existed in
three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are
one God.

GOD THE FATHER
Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 8:6; Psalm 24:1-2, 90:2; John 10:29-30
God is the creator of the universe and ruler of the universe. He is all powerful, all knowing, all
loving, all wise.

GOD THE SON—JESUS
Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 4:14-15
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. He is both Creator and Savior of the
world. Jesus, although tempted like all people, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the
perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. His death, in God’s perfect
plan, paid the price for the sins of all humanity. He arose from the dead after three days to
demonstrate His power over sin and death. Jesus returned to Heaven where He awaits His
return to earth, where He will reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
John 5:17, 15:5; John 14:16-17, 26, 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18; Galatians 5:25
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and Jesus, the Christ. He was active at creation
and is present in the world today to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He
provides the Christian with power and direction for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and
guidance for doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under the Spirit’s control by
deliberately carving time into our busy schedules for two-way communication with God (prayer
and Bible study) and learning how to walk in obedience with Him.

THE BIBLE AS FOUNDATION
Psalm 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5; Matthew 4:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
The Bible is a message from God to humanity throughout the ages. This book is the truth of
God and never changes or goes out of date. The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and
is the only basis for our beliefs. The Bible, when taught in a clear, accurate and relevant
manner, provides power for salvation and strength for daily living. The Bible is God’s Word to
all people. This message of love, grace, and judgment was written by human authors under
the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of
error. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

ABOUT HUMANITY
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; 59:1-2; Romans 3:23; James 2:10
Human beings are the crowning achievement of God’s handiwork. Humans are made in the
spiritual image of God the Father and are created to exist forever. Although human beings
have a tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward
God. This disobedience is called “sin” which leads to a separation from God, both spiritually
and physically (Genesis 3). Since we are so inclined to sin, we cannot achieve the degree of
perfection necessary to stand in God’s holy presence.

ABOUT SALVATION
John 1:12, 14; John 3:3-5, 16; John 10:10; John 14:6; Romans 5:1; Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:26;
Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5
Salvation is a gift from God to people whereby we are rescued from life without Christ and
restored in relationship to Him. God allowed His Son Jesus literally to “become sin” in our
place and pay the penalty for the wrong we have done.  He did this because He wants us to
have a full and complete life beginning now and continuing into eternity. Self-improvement and
good works can never make up for our sinful and rebellious nature. Only by accepting God’s
offer of forgiveness can people be saved from sin’s penalty. When we remove ourselves from
the throne of our own lives, submit to God’s rule, and accept Jesus in faith, we receive
salvation and are “born again.”

ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE
Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9, 15:12-28, 35-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; Hebrews 9:27; 1 John 2:
25, 5:11-13; Revelation 20:15
Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. For all people, there will be a resurrection of
the body into the spiritual world and a judgment that will determine the fate of each individual.
Those who prepared themselves for heaven by trusting in Jesus Christ as the forgiver of their
sins and the leader of their life will be taken into the very presence of God for all eternity.
Those who have chosen to reject His free gift of salvation will be eternally banished from God’
s presence into Hell.

ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY
Romans 8:35-39; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5
Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in his or her
relationship to God for all eternity (John 10:28-29). If a person has been genuinely saved, that
person cannot “lose” his or her salvation. A person receives salvation as a gift and keeps it as
a gift. Remember, nothing can be done to earn it. It is God’s power, not human power, which
keeps an individual safe.

ABOUT BAPTISM
Matthew 3:13-17; Acts 8:35-39; Romans 6:3-5
Baptism is one’s public display of commitment to Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism
does not make a person a Christian, but is symbolic of death to a sinful lifestyle, burial of our
past mistakes, and resurrection to a new life in Christ. Baptism at Skyline Community Church
is by immersion in accordance with Christ’s example and is done after one acknowledges his
or her sinful nature; asks forgiveness from God, the only One who can forgive; and allows
Christ to be the leader of his or her life.

ABOUT THE LORD’S SUPPER
Acts 2:42, 46; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29
The Lord’s Supper commemorates the death of our Lord Jesus Christ and the sacrifice Christ
paid for our sins. The bread and cup used are symbolic of Christ’s broken body and shed
blood. At Skyline Community Church, the sharing of the bread and the cup is open to all who
have received Jesus as their Savior.

ABOUT THE CHURCH
The Church is the hope of the world. We are the literal hands and feet of Jesus. The local
church consists of believers who unite in faith and fellowship to love God (the Great
Commandment -Matthew 22:37-40) and to love others (the Great Commission-Matthew 28:
19-20). A church reaches its full potential when its members reach their full potential. The
church experiences growth when believers share God’s heart for humanity and commit to
sharing God’s love with others. God intends for His church to grow and multiply.
Matthew 10, 16:15-19, 18:15-20; Acts 2:42-48; Acts 14:23, 27; Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-
